Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson is the daughter of British lawyers Jacqueline Luesby (born in Paris) as well as Chris Watson (born in Paris). The couple made the move to Oxfordshire as a child where she attended at the Dragon School. Emma decided to become an actor when she was six. For several years she was at the Oxford branch Stagecoach Theatre Arts part-time school. She learned to sing dance, acting and singing. At the age of 10 Emma was already taking part in numerous Stagecoach productions and school productions. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone The 2001 film version of J.K. Rowling's bestselling book was made in 1999. Emma was discovered by agents through an Oxford teacher. David Heyman, the producer of Harry Potter Harry Potter's Sorcerer's Stone, and Ron Weasley told Emma after 8 auditions, that she had been cast in these roles. Emma was chosen to play alongside Daniel Radcliffe Rupert Grint and Rupert Grint. The film's release Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001) was Emma's first cinematic screen appearance. It was also the biggest and most well-received film of the year. Its opening Saturday and Sunday sales were record-breaking. The film was praised by critics and the performances of the three top young actors. The Daily Telegraph, an influential British publication, described Emma's portrayal "amazing". Emma received the Young Artist Award as the Leading Young Actress for a Feature Film. The actress was recognized five times in recognition of her performance in the film.
